The truth is this is now a false dichotomy. IT Guys who aren't business savvy fail. C-Suites who aren't tech savvy fail. The challenges are: C-Suite guys hate transparency ( heard of stock option backdating or poison pills or premium class stock? ). IT Guys hate transparency ( heard of commoditization pressure and offshoring snd H1B visas? ) IT Guys rarely own their tech budgets so they get the risks of Enterprise 2.0 open colloboration only to be outsourced or down-salaried. CEO's get bonuses for the productivity gains the IT Guys provide and for laying them off. Now is the time for folks to take the total concept of "enterprise," including the human factors, seriously.
