Paula,
I am looking forward to connecting directly to discuss some of your perceptions.

Yes, I completely agree that "technology is an enabler". As I said above, we think we can help
people leverage Web 2.0 in their business. "Leverage" is the word I used since that is generally why people invest in technology. It is not technology for the sake of it, but it is investment in technology with the desire or hope that it will help the people, team, organization, etc. be better able to reach their desired goals.

Cheers,
Shane

You might note that I've stated elsewhere that 2.0 is not about technology. Technology is an enabler. An architecture which separates 'collaboration' as something different from every other function is not a sound 2.0 solution. An architecture which 'fixes' the interface and has an RSS implementation which is both inconsistent and non-standard is a red flag when evaluating a technology for 2.0 flexibility.

2.0 is all about simplicity and flexibility. AquaLogic is shackled by it's past and BEA appears to be unprepared (as repeatedly reinforced by staffers) to pursure a divergent design strategy to update their underlying architecture while honoring their existing client base.

None of these reflect 2.0 thinking. So replace 'checklist' with 'going through the motions'.

Paula,
Please feel free to contact me directly so we can discuss Web 2.0 We do believe our new products will provide the entry point for many people who are looking to leverage Web 2.0 in their business, and we are not just going through a checklist.

Cheers,

Don't be mislead by the slight of hand. I've met with AquaLogic staff. They are simply going through the motions based on a checklist. They do not truly understand anything about the 2.0 space. I base this on pointed inquiries about how they operate, how they handle feedback and whether or not they even recogize critical UI design flaws as flaws. Code red on all accounts.
