KM World 2007 Enters Enterprise 2.0

by Bill Ives

I have been to the last two KM Worlds and five in total. It is a useful annual event that I will unfortunately miss this year. I did see that enterprise 2.0 has entered the theme as it has with other conferences in this space. As the KM World 2007 conference site stated: “This year’s theme, KM 2.0: A New World for the Enterprise, emphasizes that there are new ways to exchange knowledge within the enterprise which are totally integrated into daily business and work processes and are having a major impact on organizational innovation and success.” James Surowiecki, who we all know likes crowds, is the keynote speaker this time. Two years ago it was Tom Davenport who did not talk about enterprise 2.0 but he did cover the themes in his excellent book, Thinking for a Living. I think it is the best book yet on KM 1.0 and takes about the topic as it should be done.

Other new themes include business uses of Second Life. The event takes place on November 6 – 8 at the San Jose McEnery Convention Center in San Jose, CA. If you go I recommend the San Jose Museum of Art which is only a few blocks away.
