Good point Tom - I see "Relationship" in this context as this:

Setting up the conditions where a person can connect as a human being to another - so for instance in Ken Burns new documentary The War he connects us to the main characters so that we really do care for them - this makes what happens feel more connected to us as the viewer.

Also some stations have been working over the months prior to have members tell their personal story. KETC and WOSU (clients) have then shown theses stories back into the community. A connection has been made by the stations between members.

Institutions tend to talk always about themselves or fake it. For instance every time I call the phone company I am told that they can't wait to serve me and that my call is soooo important BUT that just now (every time I call ) they are experiencing higher than average call and that I will have to wait.

The new job in a content laden world is to create meaning for the content.

This is why I also think that niche will have a huge role. Mots of us have a moderate at best attachment to general content - but all of us have a few areas of life where we are passionately involved. In this area, we find others who we seek to connect to because we share this passion.

In the mass media model, it is essential to avoid the niche and so this attachment is absent.

It is the infinite capacity of the web that offers each niche a spot and so opens the possibility that you can find it.

Got it all - great article about content. One question. In the context of the web, how do you define "relationship". You count it as the most important attribute to a presence.
