Inside Look at Intranets

by Paula Thornton

A key challenge with best practice (or ‘any practice’) research on company intranets is that they’re ‘closed’ to access. So we have to rely on the reports from others to access behind-the-scenes glimpses at what’s being done.

James Robertson has released both a ‘glimpse’ and a report in his Intranet Innovation Award Winners for 2007. He focuses on recent innovations in his recognition: “these awards recognise individual intranet improvements, and not intranets as a whole”. Each sample clearly indicates what ‘feature/focus’ is being recognized.

The author, an Australian, features a world-wide list of samples: Fiat (Italy), City of Casey (Australia), Environment Agency (UK), Perkins Eastman (USA), Nycomed (Switzerland / Denmark), SunGard Avantgard (USA / New Zealand), QBE (Australia).

A public thanks to James (an FFB emeritus) for this work.
