I agree, burning of folks should be kept to a minimum as a rule!

Jevon,

Thanks--I liked this part in particular:

"His approach, and one we should replicate, was methodical and took place over a period of six years. Ignatius of Loyola did not draw up arbitrary rules as I can only imagine would have been common in the church, instead he introduced rules or customs and tested them out, getting rid of ones that didn’t work and keeping the ones which helped move the order forward. Instead of pretending he had the answers, which as leader would have been typical, he chose to do what was sensible."

Seems obvious, doesn't it? But as it's phrased it's not, and many companies have not kept this method in mind as often as they should. The point is that there should be a continuous feedback-response loop for every set of rules in place. I plan to use this observation in a non Web 2.0 context next week to try to get some guidelines changed we're currently suffering under.

Jevon, I like your idea.

But I hope Enteprise 2.0 euagelists will be remembered in IT history in a similar way to apostles like Paul or Peter who were "as sheeps among wolves", not like jesuits who are also remembered for burning nice folks like Giordano Bruno :)
