Perhaps Cris hasn't tried many other 2.0 technologies, such as those created by 37 Signals, including Backpack. We organized, managed and communicated an entire conference using a Backpack.

It is only through actual hands-on use that people figure out how to truly "utilize" something(there's a critical suble distinction). His 'repurposing' the blog for something other than what he thought it was originally intended for is the later.
