Thanks for the clarifications Steve - it's cool that you have such growth - 2,000 members already

My bet is that the network/community will want to grow around your experts though and in time this will happen.

I bet you have some real gardening expertise, can't you see how a kind of "club" could form?

I am off to see your music site
Best wishes and happy Christmas

Rob -- Two additions to your post. First, we're not really launching a TV version of PIN, but rather using TV as one of the modes of promoting the effort. I believe OPB to be the only joint licensee in the pilot effort so we thought that incorporating this into TV would be a good idea. The network is building quickly and after only three months we have over 2,000 members.

Second, PIN really has nothing to do with social networking. There is no "community" amongst the members of the network. Rather, it's a way of identifying and connecting sources to OPB. PIN will be one of the critical tools in our new daily radio/internet program, called "Think Out Loud" that will launch on January 22nd.

Speaking of social networks, one effort that we've launched is around music that has a NW sensibility. We've now built out a 24 hour/day music site that has streaming, as well as opportunities for rating, discussing and buying the music. It's at opbmusic.org
