Joe McKendrick, analyst, blogger

by Jerry Michalski

Joe thinks back to FASTforward 07 and how enterprise 2.0 was just gaining awareness but not yet widely accepted. This year, he notes, there’s a different vibe as companies accept what it has to offer but need help getting there.

Bio: Joe McKendrick is a widely published author and consultant with deep knowledge and insights regarding trends and developments in the technology industry. He is the author of ZDNet’s blog on service-oriented architecture and is a contributing editor to a number of national and international publications and websites including Database Trends & Applications, Webservices.Org, ENT Online, and Enterprise Systems. He also serves as analyst for Evans Data Corp., for which he coauthors Evans’ Web services survey reports, and is lead analyst for Evans’ enterprise development management issues and database development surveys.

The bloggers had such a great time getting to know each other — not to mention relishing in mucking around in our collective grey matter as if we were all kids and it was the latest finger paint phenomenon. In that theme, I was immediately struck as I watched the opening of Joe’s interview as he animatedly nodded and thanked Jerry during the greeting — how much he personified a muppet — a cross between Kermit and Ernie (as in Bert and Ernie).

Given how much influence these characters have had on young minds that now are solidly entrenched in enterprises today, I can’t imagine a better way to embody influencial messages than through Joe.

[Although if you close your eyes, he sounds like a softer version of "Hawkeye" Pierce.]
