It strikes me as only mildly odd that there was another keynote speaker at the conference who wrote an entire book on the Attention Economy (http://www.amazon.com/Attention-Economy-Understanding-Currency-Business/dp/1578518717/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1203907059&sr=8-1) who is not even once mentioned in your piece (clearly, NOT a criticism on my part). I was as underwhelmed by that book's focus on the Attention Economy as I was by the author's messages at this conference. I always find that I am screaming inside my head at all the important things not said...messages far more important and relevant than the ones being delivered.

Then as now, there appears to be a lack of 'empathy' by the author for the subjects for which he writes. He bases his writing on an academic, not an empathetic understanding of his subject matter. As such, for me, he lacks any true vision. His thoughts are remarkably stale.
