See the work of Wim Veen at The Technical University of Delft (NL).

He coined the term Homo Zappiens ...

http://www.networkcontinuum.co.uk/HZ.html

.. and wrote the book "Homo Zappiens - Growing Up In A Digital Age"

He has been studying the "different" cognitive development and changes in the brain due to neuro-plasticity (I believe that's the term) of the digital generation(s) for at least the last decade.

i am in the possession of several of his PPT decks (obtained with his permission) from various elearning conferences I have attended in the past, wherein he addresses in some detail the implication of the rise of homo zappiens for learner-centered curricula and significantly differently structured schooling and schools .. and pedagogy.

i will be glad to share these PPT decks with anyone should they email and ask for them.
