A while back one of my Flickr photos was picked by a web travel guide, not because of the professional quality, but because of the Creative Commons license. Allowing my work to be free and easy to use now has one of my photos in a completely unrelated area to my work. being open to share just makes it's easier to use Wikipedia and other sources, without checking the copyright each time. I use the CC search plugin in Firefox to find many of my photos for presentations or blog posts.
