More on the Twitter Market from Dion Hitchcliffe
by Bill Ives
I recently wrote a post here, Will the Twitter Application Market Match the FaceBook Application Market? That questions remains unanswered but Dion Hitchcliffe covered this issue in much more detail in his post, Endless Conversation: The Unfolding Saga of Blogs, Twitter, Friendfeed, and Social Sites. He writes, “Recently, microblogging and social aggregation platforms like Twitter and Friendfeed have emerged to offer alternative models that are compelling for a number of significant reasons.” He includes speed and ease of use on mobile devices. He also mentions the open APIs that lead to other applications such the one I described in my last post, fuelfrog.
Dino provides a much more comprehensive list. Here are the first four. You will have to go to his post to get the other eight.
Summize - A power search engine for scanning Twitter conversations for information
Twitter Charts - Detailed analytics of your Twitter activities along many different metrics
TwitterFeed - Link your blog activity to Twitter
TwitterGram - Post MP3s into your Twitter conversations
The gold rush is on. Dion also shares some results from a survey he did with 103 respondents, 96% who use Twitter. From this somewhat special group, 61% said they use twitter for business, 22% are considering it, and only 12% said no. Dion provides his Twitter and Friendfeed connections.
