35+++ Examples of Corporate Social Media in Action from Mashable

by Bill Ives

Aaron Uhrmacher recently posted 35+ Examples of Corporate Social Media in Action on the Mashable blog. Some are well known and others are new to me, at least. I was impressed by the variety of social media used and approaches taken. Most of the examples are customer facing but not all. There were a lot of blogs but also Facebook, Twitter, del.icio.us, community sites, YouTube, Second Life, Flickr, wikis, MySpace, and Lively (Google’s virtual world).

The comments provided even more examples, including seven Cisco twitter accounts – CiscoSystems, ciscoit, CiscoPress, CiscoLive, ciscoDC, caweblearning and CiscoSP360. There is also the CiscoSP360 channel on YouTube, plus there’s a Facebook group. There was also General Motors vice president Bob Lutz and long time blogger who now chats with his “tweeps” on http://twitter.com/gmblogs. There were quite a few UK examples and other European ones. I found the comments more interesting that the original post and a good example of user generated content in itself.

Thanks for sharing my post, Bill. I agree that the comments absolutely enhanced the conversation, and that was the point. In addition, I shared some videos on my own blog from corporate communicators discussing their social media work that your readers might be interested in as well:
