FASTforward’09 Interview: Perry Solomon, director, product management, Enterprise Search Group, Microsoft

Perry provides background on Microsoft’s enterprise search business and his work with its customers, discusses the role of search in guiding user interaction with content and commerce experiences, and weighs in on how search will evolve over the next few years. Also worth calling attention to, Microsoft’s stated goal of delivering three core business values to its customers: the use of search as a way to help companies shape users experience; the use of search to build and scale online businesses; and the use of search by its customers to deliver all the content they want to their users.
BIO: Perry Solomon is director of product managment with the Enterprise Search Group (ESG) at Microsoft, leading product and go-to-market strategies for ESG’s Internet business solutions. Previously he was vice president of business development and general manager of Media Solutions at FAST, leading media, entertainment, and communications business development activities and working with FAST’s customers to develop innovative, consumer-facing search-driven solutions. Perry has nearly 15 years of experience in the media and entertainment, technology and Internet industries helping companies develop and implement growth strategies. He received a bachelor’s degree in foreign service from Georgetown University and an MBA from the MIT Sloan School of Management.
