FASTforward’09 Interview: Walton Smith, Senior Associate, Booz Allen

by Joshua-Michéle Ross

Walton Smith is doing a lot of work to bring Enterprise 2.0 tools and processes into government. This is a timely, target and (hopefully) not temporary development. Government stands to make enormous strides using enterprise 2.0 tools (I use this synonymously with “social technologies”) to tap into the vast wealth of talent and accrued knowledge that exist within various branches of government. Walton discusses some of these initiatives with us during day two of Fast Forward ‘09.

BIO: Walton Smith is one of Booz Allen’s thought leaders in social media. Through his visionary approach, Mr. Smith led an internal corporate strategy engagement for Booz Allen’s entire Knowledge Management and Information Sharing Program, a cross-team effort to improve the flow of information through IT technologies including social networking and search. He was also responsible for the successful implementation of the firm’s first social networking platform called Hello.bah.com. Mr. Smith has a proven track record of providing outstanding results for clients in the public and private sectors. Currently he leads several client-facing initiatives to roll out Enterprise 2.0 solutions.
