But also most work is really projects now too – so like making movies – the shift is from the studio to the auteurs

I'm going to violently agree with you. The real pressure for the death of the job will be economic, not social. We used to be able to reduce transaction costs by hiring a static workforce. Now we can't. In the end, it'll be the organisations driving this change when they realise that all that compliance nonsense is pure overhead. The US Bureau of Labor Statistics thinks so too.
